What is... February

My 2013 calendar image for February is a seascape from the west coast of Scotland.

I was commissioned to paint this watercolour, of somewhere near Campbeltown (I think?), very nearly 2 years ago, and to this day it proudly hangs mounted & framed in the owner's home.

For lack of anything else to say, I'll add a shameless plug: Painting commissions start from £50 for an A4-sized watercolour on card, but there are plenty other options available, including different sizes, materials, mounting & framing. New music video in development

I'm busy producing a new animated music video for Glasgow-based genre-defying band, Randolph's Leap.

Having previously produced their music video for Counting Sheep (2011), I was recently contacted about making another video for them.
But this time, instead of utilising a mix of live-action & pixelation, this new video will be animated entirely with a hand-made abstract style similar to one of my old audio/visual experiments, Synesthesia (2008).

The production deadline is the end of January, ahead of a launch gig in Edinburgh next month: This is a little tight for my liking (particularly with my real job & a few other projects competing for my time) but it should be an interesting - and hopefully fun - project.

I'll try to post some of the influences & behind-the-scenes stuff over the coming days/weeks, so stayed tuned.

What is... January

Happy New Year everyone!

If you have bought (or received) a copy of my 2013 wall calendar, I hope you enjoy it over the next 12 months. And if you are now wondering what each of the monthly images are, you've come to the right place! At the end of every month, I'll post on this site what the image for the following month is, and (if relevant) any story behind the image.

So without further ado, what is January?

...January's image is a wintery scene from Strathclyde Country Park of Hamilton Mausoleum.

My gran sent me the source photo, and this artwork was a warm-up sketch using a ballpoint pen & watercolour paint.
I was always fascinated by the strange looking building, which is easily visible from the M74 (near Motherwell/Hamilton/Glasgow), but only within the past few years have I become aware of what it actually is.
Hopefully news of what this image is hasn't given you the heebie-jeebies: But if so, sorry! On the plus side, there's only 31 days to go until you get a new image.
